The Tutor is operated by Ethan Pyatt (UK). This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under UK GDPR.
2. What Data We Collect
- Email address — used to create and manage your account
- First name — used to personalise your experience
- Questions you submit — stored to power your learning history
- Usage data — token counts used for rate limiting and cost management
- Accessibility preferences — font, contrast, motion settings stored locally and in our database
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve the service
- To generate AI explanations via the Anthropic API
- To enforce fair usage limits
- To personalise your experience
We do not sell your data to third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
- Supabase — database and authentication (EU servers)
- Anthropic — AI model provider. Your questions are sent to their API to generate explanations
- YouTube — video recommendations (no personal data shared)
- Google AdSense — advertising on the free tier (see Google’s privacy policy for details)
5. Data Retention
Your data is stored for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
6. Your Rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to how we process your data
