The problem
AI is one of the most powerful tools students have ever had — but it's mostly being used to skip the work rather than understand it. Type in a question, copy the answer, move on. I wanted to build something that used AI the right way: to teach the method, not hand over the result.
Why accessibility matters
Private tutors in the UK cost £40–£80 an hour. The students who struggle most are often the ones with the least access to extra support. That felt deeply unfair. I set out to build something anyone could use — free to start, with no barriers.
The goal
I want every student to have something in their corner — regardless of what school they go to or what their parents earn. If The Tutor AI helps one student go from confused to actually understanding something, that's what it's for.
